. Certificate is about 8” x 11.” Black print on vellum paper.
Beautifully engraved vignettes with state seal of New York between two allegorical figures (top center), and an open horse-drawn carriage with two drivers and two passengers (bottom right).
(lot includes photocopy of letter dated July 2, 1891 written on Vanderbilt House hotel letterhead referencing Peoples Transfer Company and president Newell Pettie:

In consideration of two (200) hundred dollars to me in hand paid by Newell Pettie for the Peoples Transfer Co. I sell and assign the sorrel horse, harness, wagon sleigh, & blanks used by me transferring baggage for the Vanderbilt House Syracuse. Wm. Clary”)
The People’s Transfer Company was formed in 1891 as a baggage-luggage-carriage transfer business in Syracuse, New York, for the Vanderbilt House hotel situated on the southeast corner of East Washington and South Warren streets in Syracuse. (see attached photos of postcards with the Vanderbilt House Hotel, ca. early 1900s)

, two very light vertical folds, very minor creasing, no tears, light signs of wear/handling/toning (see photos),
uncancelled.
